If homeowners wish to make changes or additions to the exterior of their homes or their grounds, they are required to obtain approval from both the Madison Village ARC and the Charter Colony Design Review Team (DRT). Examples include awnings, dormers, generators, landscaping, landscaping walls, lighting, patio extensions, pergolas, trellises, water features, etc. Modifications must be compliant with the Charter Colony Design Standards and the accompanying Madison Village Addendum. Homeowners are responsible for maintaining copies of the signed request packets and approval letters in order to be submitted to the new owners in the event of re-sale.

Gather your support documents: plat plan, complete description of the modification including photos and drawings, floor plans, elevation, section drawing, county building permit, etc, as needed. Then complete the Madison Village at Charter Colony Homeowners’ Association, Inc. Architectural Modification Request Form and attach support materials. After you receive Madison Village approval, you must complete the Charter Colony Application for Approval of Plans for Property Improvement Form and attach a copy of the Madison Village approval letter and submit to Charter Colony. You can mail it, email it or take it to the Charter House.
